Located in Greene County, TN, about 40 minutes from downtown Johnson City, TN, I can be in Asheville, NC or Knoxville, TN in just over an hour.
Additionally, I have home-away-from-home base camps in the NYC and LA areas.
And, well, there are airports in TN. So, the globe's the limit!
FYI, any travel fees will always be built into assignment costs.
My artistic inspiration, work and influence has always been rooted fiercely in the reality that often exists when no one is watching. The time that escapes memory in the blur of our days and falls into the quiet that makes up the vast portion of our lives.
Staying within those boundaries of influence, I photograph portraits, editorial work and essays, along with personal documentary work. I love to explore emotion, vulnerability, reflection, relationships and struggles and am drawn to the hollow echo of internal chaos, loneliness and darkness. Additionally, I adore photographing live music, bands, musicians and promotional work.
I also write freelance, including copy, social media content and articles, ghost-written blog posts and my own personal work. And, occasionally I have been known to design digital content. Generally speaking, my writing often reflects triumph, growth, resilience and that mysterious path of many detours called life.
Despite living in the rural Appalachian Valley, I have worked with people all over the country and continue to seek out projects that are meaningful, newsworthy and hopeful. I also greatly enjoy photographing people who simply want a portrait of their unique beauty or inner fantasy life, but in a more editorial style.
I am always available for hire. From small assignments to on-going work. Personal or commercial. My rates vary depending on the scope or nature of what a client wants, so I prefer to start a conversation before quoting a job. This is my passion and my life's work. And it is my outlet.
Some of my photographs are also available for purchase. Depending, of course, on the nature of why they were shot. You can always shoot me an email and ask, and we can discuss print size and type. This is the digital age, and I am not a snob when it comes to reprints.
I actually shoot quite a bit with my iPhone, but my professional, go-to equipment is my beloved Canon 5D Mark II and my Canon SLR EOS-1. I also have in my bag a Canon 40D and a Holga. My lenses of choice are my 85 prime, 135 L-series prime and a 24-70 L-series, along with my darling Lensbaby Edge80.
I edit in Lightroom and Photoshop and generally use Nik Software over presets.
Of course, because of my location, my writing assignments are done remotely. I use all sorts of digital ways to communicate, share, edit and collaborate with clients. I love my Google Drive. And iA Writer on my iPad.
If you are interested in working with me, or just like my style and want to pitch or request a project, please don't hesitate to contact me. Details to your left.
